My Jellyfin server is refusing to read some .nfo files stored alongside TV episodes. No metadata shows up in the browser, episode names remain file names, etc.

edit: this thread from a few days ago seems to be complaining about the same issue, but they did not provide much information so it is hard to tell.
Jellyfin info:
- Using most recent Jellyfin version 10.10.7
- No errors related to scanning are printed in the log (there are some errors related to ffmpeg probes, but they seem unrelated - those don't show up after I simply "scan for new/updated files" on an episode having an issue).
- This is a recent issue, maybe past few months? It was not an issue before, using the same process/tools.
Library info:
- I have all episode metadata downloaders disabled.
- The Library has .nfo metadata saving on.
- Show/Season/Episode metadata locking has been enabled/disabled, it would not read either way.
File info:
- Jellyfin will create .nfo files, obviously without any downloaded metadata, just fine.
- The .nfo files I want it to read are generated using TinyMediaManager and, as far as I can tell, are valid. Naming and storage location are correct because Jellyfin creates them in the same location.
- I have used the episode "Refresh metadata -> "Scan for new/updated files" as well as "Scan Library" -> "Scan for new/updated files", after modifying or creating the files. Neither has resulted in the .nfo being read.
- I have renamed the files to follow file naming conventions exactly.
- Relevant .nfo and .log files (pastebin links)
