I switched back to Jellyfin with the 10.11 update announcement. Primarily due to the blurb about the custom ffmpeg that did a better job with DV files that have HDR fallback, as I've been having issues with Apple mobile devices.
The update does indeed do a better job with Apple mobile devices then Plex/Emby did, at least for media files that are DV w/HDR fallback. However, for every other device I stream to I'm having issues with Jellyfin seemingly finding a reason to have to transcode at least one aspect (audio or video) of every file. It's also handling the DV w/HDR fallback worse on pretty much every other device that isn't an Apple mobile.
It is transcoding all audio formats to AAC.
It seems to consistently get the HDR fallback right on Apple mobile devices but fails on all other devices. All of my DV rips have HDR fallback. On say a Shield (which doesn't support DV7) I have to start/stop a DV7 file multiple times before it will switch to HDR fallback.
Android phones are using Jellyfin app v2.6.3.
Shields and Fire Cube Gen3 are using Jellyfin for Android TV app v0.19.2.
Looking for any suggestions.
