so to start off im running
jellyfin 10.10.7
Runing System
Device Name Media-Server
Processor Intel® Core2 Quad CPU Q8400 @ 2.66GHz 2.67 GHz
Installed RAM 8.00 GB
Storage 112 GB SSD Intenso SSD
Graphics Card AMD Radeon HD 7500 Series (1009 MB) <------------ (ignore) as its just in the system if i need to hook up a display as i norm just RDP into it
System Type Win 10 Pro 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
-------------------------------------------------------------
so got it up and running then instaled some Plugins and got used to how it runs where the web interface keeps its images and that for custom iptv m3u list images and so on.
all going great till about a week in at what point i thought i would make some video playlists, so fired up windows media player big fan of KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid) "drop and save".
fine in windows media player and VLC time to move it over to jellyfin\playlists. done refresh list name shows but no content
oh no here we go so did some checking yer jellyfin should us m3u playlists,
no problem rechecked the playlist raw from difren pcs and tables no problem playing ok next google bit of a look but no help ah i will come back to it when i have a bit of free time.
...
so today i had some free time so fired up windows media player made a new test.m3u playlist still the same
made 2 playlists in jellyfin and they work as they should
so now i have test.m3u - test5.m3u
all made in windows media player with different files still nothing
so now i fire up np++ and drop the 2 jellyfin playlists in and the 5 playlists from windows media player.
looking at the paths nothing stands out test some other stuff ah nothing, ok time for shits and giggles as this wont work so on monitor 1 jellyfin web interface on playlists on monitor 2 np++ jellyfin playlist2 and test5.m3u
side by side so i copy and paste the paths from jellyfin playlist2 to test5.m3u as its the same files in them save test5.m3u and go make a coffee come back drinking my coffee looking at,
monitor 1 jellyfin web interface on playlists then the page refreshes but now test5.m3u has the same thumbnail as jellyfin playlist2 me "eh what" why did that work so click into it on the web interface
all the files are listed and play as they should finnish drinking my coffee then on monitor 2 i bring up the folder with the test5.m3u double, click windows media player opens and plays the files
np++ side by side with jellyfin playlist2 and test5.1.m3u a copy of test5.m3u i made befor copy and paste the paths then i seen although they are the same paths they also are not
test5.1.m3u

it just has a problem with the fist 2 parts of the path so will ues the first in the lists to show
\\ls220d7e3\DLNA\Disney Movies\A Christmas Carol (2009)\A Christmas Carol (2009).mp4
\\Ls220d7e3\dlna\Disney Movies\A Christmas Carol (2009)\A Christmas Carol (2009).mp4
the raw path is
\\ls220d7e3\DLNA\
then looking at the Libraries some are \\Ls220d7e3\dlna\ and some are \\ls220d7e3\DLNA\ so if i change the paths so they are the same as raw one this should fix that.
so hopefully this will help anyone else having problems with m3u playlists epmty when not.
