I have been running Jellyfin now for 2 & a half years. My background is in IT Infrastructure so running it behind an NGINX reverse proxy was a standard exercise for me which I have been doing since day one. I use LetsEncrypt to handle the certs for the public facing HTTPS endpoint. I run plain HTTP on Jellyfin internally, which is ONLY accessed via the proxy, never direct.

I have made sure Nginx is configured for protocol uplift to HTTP/2, and that caching is disabled. Performance is excellent, my server sits on a 10G connection as well. However I find the download performance somewhat lacking and always struggle to get near even 100MB/s. (Yes, Mega BYTES) if using the Download option from the Web UI. In addition, download performance is terrible in the new IOS app as well. So poor its unusable.

System is fast, set up in sig.

Am I missing any tunables here? Would I see a benefit if I ran HTTPS on the Jellyfin box as well so that the Nginx Proxy can forward via HTTPS. which I believe is a requirement of HTTP/2 in some cases?

Should note that even local connections direct to the Jellyfin server cannot get close to saturating even a 1G line. So its not the proxy.
