I am a Jellyfin newbie and I got it running on my Ubuntu Server for the purpose of managing my music collection by custom Genres and not by Albums because I do not collect music by Albums since I find it to be a big waste of hard disk space. Therefore, for test purposes I uploaded 20 French songs and 20 Arab songs to my Ubuntu server. And using Mp3Tag I embedded a "French" genre meta data tag to the 20 French songs and for the 20 Arab songs I also embedded an "Arab" genre meta data tag to the Mp3 files.
I was expecting the Jellyfin GUI to give me the capability to filter the 40 songs by GENRE. For example, if I select an Arab Artist it will show me her music belongs to the Arab Genre and also that 5 out of the 20 Arab songs belong to her. As hard as I have tried, I am not able to apply such Arab Genre Filtering? Am I doing something wrong or is the problem with Jellyfin not designed to deliver such GENRE filtering?
From what I see the Jellyfin GUI heavily relies on organizing a music collection by ALBUM meta tags. So when I click on the GENRE tab I see a French Genre art thumbnail and also an Arab Genre Art thumbnail, but after I select the Arab genre button it does not show me a list that should be comprised of 4 different Arab singers with each one having 5 songs each.
In short, I hope somebody could clarify if it is possible to in any way customize the Jellyfin configuration XML file so it focuses on Songs and Artists by Genre and not by Albums. Any information welcome.
