I've got a Jellyfin server on a Linux host. I use the docker containers jellyfin/jellyfin, currently version 10.9.6.
My library consists of mainly Movies and TV shows, and the metadata for all of these was collected using MediaElch and I have individual .nfo files for everything (movies and episodes).
I use the plugin TMDb Box Sets for collections, and in the Movie Library I have the 'automatically add to collection' button toggled to off. My library has Movies, TV Shows, Documentaries, Collections.
I have two Jellyfin users setup, one is mine with all the admin privileges, and a second non-privileged one for the kids. For the second user I use a whitelist under Parental Controls, via a specific tag I have added to the kid's movies and shows.
For my admin user, it all works great on every player. I use Jellyfin Media Player, a web browser, and two Fire TV sticks. Specifically, I have many collections and these are accessible either from the Home page as a separate option under 'My Media', and also available if I first navigate to Movies and then across the top tabs I can choose collections. Here I can also choose Genres and its fully populated.
However, for the second non-privileged account all of the movies I have tagged are shown in the movie library navigation page, however the collections and genres are empty.
For Collections I see "Nothing here. Collections allow you to enjoy personalized groupings of Movies, Series, and Albums. Click the '+' button to start creating collections."
For Genres I see a screen with "Nothing here. Enable some metadata providers to pull genres from the internet."
If I pick any single Movie that shouldn't be part of a collection (determined by my admin user account) and go to it's information page, the information page loads and the movie can play. If I try to navigate to a movie that should be part of a collection (according to my admin account), the whole page fails to load. I can't play any Movies that are within collections, no matter which media player I use.
