Omg!  THANK YOU.  I couldn't play anything all of a sudden on my Nvidia Shield TV, and this fixed the issue.

I registered just to say thanks.

Yes but why set default to "downmix to stereo" i hope next update will be default "direct". Many have kill transcode on server side and how should people know downmix to stereo should be change to direct

I've already released 0.17.1 yesterday which changes the default audio behavior to direct stream. Unfortunately none of our 3000 beta testers on Google Play reported any playback issues so we only found out about the new default value after releasing 0.17.0 stable.

I am having an issue with videos in playlist crashing after it plays. Videos and Shows play fine. I am using the latest releases of the server and Android tv app. Here is the log file. https://pastebin.com/jWSzPgJd. Thanks

Can you start a separate thread in troubleshooting and also include your jellyfin server log?

I was wondering why overnight I went from 0 to 1 simultaneous transcodes to 6. all of my local clients were using LibVLC experimental player to get ASS overlay sub support. none of them had any audio/sub sync issues that were noticeable.

I'll try rolling them back or trying a third party player for now. just trying to avoid having to configure user friendly kodi setups on multiple nvidia shields and other players in the home.

I moved my local clients from Plex to Jellyfin a few months back after not trying JF for a few years. it's come a LONG way and I am very happy with it, but I do consider the removal of LibVLC a regression without a replacement in place for it.

I've tried MXplayer and VLC as external players, but they both have issues related to framerate matching and audio passthrough so they are both out, have not tried MPV yet.

I'd happily donate to get a replacement for libvlc up and running.

You'll be happy to hear that there will be work done in the future that will bring direct play support for ASS subs to Exoplayer on the Android TV app.

No word on when development is estimated to start/finish, but the main dev behind ATV has stated that he plans to work on this in the future.

For some reason with this change I'm not able to use libvlc anymore, stuff still plays on exoplayer but for some reason on my audio reciever I no longer see "TrueHD" or "Atmos" when playing a movie with this audio codecs, I only see "Multi In" on my reciever, previously with libvlc I was able to see the correct audio format/codec being recieved, the funny thing is that on plex which uses exoplayer to my knowladge, I do see "TrueHD" or "Atmos" in my receiver, on plex I have audio passthtough enabled and on jellyfin I have direct play enabled, libvlc was working fine I'm not sure why the option was removed. I'm using nvidia shield.

In the Jellyfin ATV app that the audio is set to direct and that pass-through is still enabled. They may have reset.
