I'm sorry to invoke Plex, but I'm not sure how else to explain my question lol.

When hosting multiple Plex servers on a node within a Kubernetes environment, env vars can be used to disable certain data or CPU intensive processes like chapter thumbnails and credit/intro detection. This prevents users who are managing those servers from enabling and using those features.

    Is this possible with Jellyfin?

No, it's not possible to do this. Jellyfin is not designed to allow for a user to administer multiple servers not owned by them. The design philosophy of Jellyfin is to provide a single server for your personal needs.

I might be misreading your message, but each and every server is used by one person for their own personal needs. They only thing shared is hardware and bandwidth, for those that don't wish to self-host on their own in-home hardware and maintain it. Each person "owns' their own server. Due to it being shared infrastructure, sharing their server with anyone outside of a few family/friends is strictly prohibited in addition to a few data and/or CPU/GPU intensive features.

Efficient is saying that the features you're asking for don't make sense for the design philosophy and use case that Jellyfin is aiming for. Jellyfin has no features that aid in scaling Jellyfin. Or aid in controlling Jellyfin in the way you'd like.
    Jellyfin 10.10.7 (Docker)
    Ubuntu 24.04.2 LTS w/HWE
    Intel i3 12100
    Intel Arc A380
    OS drive - SK Hynix P41 1TB
    Storage
