    Hello All,
I believe this has been since the update to Android tv version 0.17.x, but since then PGS subtitles labeled 'Forced' will only pull up the "unable to load subtitles." These are taken straight from the blu-ray and would be the subtitles that translates songs, and Japanese text into English. I labeled them forced and Default. There is no error when playing the 'Full' subtitle track (namely those with both what the actors are saying and the necessary signage that was translated.) Ive attached the FFMPEG log, which is from playing on my 2012 iMac using the Jellyfin app. This is only not working on the Android TV, which as of recently is running on an Nvidia Shield Pro. (This error was happening on the sony tv that was being used beforehand as well.) It is perfectly possible that I have done something wrong in setting the 'forced' flag. Any help in rectifying or guiding me in the right direction is greatly appreciated.

Do you have video transcoding disabled? PGS subs would require they be burned in.

No, the Server has transcoding enabled, and does when needed (when video/audio tracks), but it wont even allow me to attempt to transcode to put in this track. I dont even think that it transcodes for the 'Full' track, which is also a PGS sub. I also have Subtitle extraction on the fly enabled. Could it be something as simple as I have the labels wrong? that because its both labeled 'Forced' and 'Default' that its getting confused?

Shouldn't matter. If you select the track it should burn it in.

Can you share the main jellyfin log via pastebin?

Do you have on-the-fly subtitle extraction enabled or disabled? Dashboard > Playback > Transcoding.

Or do you have the subtitle extract plugin installed?

I have on-the-fly enabled, and it was enabled when I ran 0.16.x when it worked (or at least when I believe it did), I do not have the plugin.

The only time that selecting a subtitle forces immediate transcoding without dropping the bitrate to very low is enabling a VODSUB. That is for the same type of subtitle track (Only the Song Lyrics and Sign subtitles), I removed the 'Forced' Flag from one, while maintaining the 'Default' Flag, but it still gave me the "Unable to load Subtitle" along with a new error "Encountered Player error, will Re-try" which then goes back to try the subtitle again, with the same error. Idk why it does this behavior, but am willing and happy to be told what I've done wrong, as I've obviously done something lol.

Edit: I've attached the log of the successful VODSUB transcode, where it automatically did it when selecting the subtitle to play.

Edit 2: Even more odd, when trying a different release (Still PGS Subs, and still just taken directly from the blu ray) but from a different company, they work immediately, without the need to transcode at all. Its listed as Direct Play from the Dashboard,

Do you only have issues with PGS subs with a particular movie/show/episode? Or across the board?

It seems to only be the Songs and Signs tracks of some Anime releases, generally all {We don't talk about sourcing - TDP}, yet some work. For example "Saga of Tanya the Evil" worked fine, but "Ancient Magus Bride, Spy x Family, Bungo Stray Dogs, Ouran Highschool Host club, The Case Study of Vanitas, Overlord, Fire Force, Black Clover, Assassination Classroom" dont. There probably is more, but those are all the ones I can remember testing and getting the error for sure. IDK why Tanya worked, it was a surprise for me as well.
