Media Cleaner plugin question

Have been running Jellyfin for a few years now and started using the Media Cleaner plugin a few months ago. It works as expected but in the log I'm getting a lot of messages that state a movie was ignored because the movie was played BEFORE the added date, so it's not removing those titles even though the filter matches because the specified users have watched it.

I have the setting Use Date Scanned into Library set, but there's a mismatch somewhere.

Does anyone know how to resolve this?

Is the library set to use the date scanned date or the file creation date.
