I’ve been down some rabbit holes in the forums and am still having issues with getting my music library to render with the proper metadata. From what I’ve read, music libraries are still pretty inconsistent and unstable in terms of completing metadata population (unlike movies, tv shows).

For context, I have a pretty large but very well curated music library (proper folder structure, track naming, proper embedded tags, and album art).

The issue I’m having is that 1) Artist bio and any related content is not getting pulled down from Musicbrainz. The Musicbrainz ID is in there in the metadata but no other content. 2) Only about 5% of Artist images (not album) is getting populated.

After doing some research, I’m about to go in and build out .nfo files for every artist as it seems this is the only way to make this work. But I am surprised as to what is NOT pulled in from jellyfin’s built-in metadata fetcher.

Am I missing anything? Is this consistent with others?
    Thanks!

I used MusicBrainz Picard program on my files before I added them to Jellyfin and I'd say 98% worked, I just had to manually edit a few.

Picard for embedded tags though, not .nfo? Also I didn’t think there was a tag for artist bio and other top-level details.

I don't really know much about it, sorry. a lot of my old music did not work in jellyfin well, I ran Picard and now it works.

Can you share your jellyfin logs via pastebin? I'm wondering if you are getting rate limited by MusicBrainz due to the size of your library.

I have same problem. Very few of my albums are not properly tagged, but mostly also have normally/properly named files. Most of it is original scene releases, so i cant touch those.
When checking the files and the tags, they have all kinds of info and even pictures. But Jellyfin can't find all of them. Not as bad as JazoBurbs explains but quite bad.

In Foobar2k all the info looks nice, even pictures(when i add the dir as library). I haven't checked for a while, but i remember kodi did my music library better.
