    Hi there,

Ive briefly dabbled with Jellyfin in the past, but still getting myself up to scratch with devices etc. so please forgive me if I get anything wrong!

I recently picked up a Raspberry Pi 5 and a Raspberry Pi 4 + a 256GB SD card and want to use it to amalgamate and host media that I have collected throughour the years that is scattered from three different computers.

I mainly want to use it for my 100+ GB audio library with my devices, as well as a select handful films that I cannot currently get on streaming platforms (Mostly less than 10 films tbh).

Would some of you who are a bit more experienced say that I would get a fairly "useable" experience from a Raspberry Pi at all?

I am fully aware that a NAS or even a PC would be much more of a safer bet, but for my usecase of primarily 95% audio, would this be a viable solution?

Look forward to hearing your thoughs

    Thanks!

Most clients can direct play nearly all audio formats. Because of that, it takes almost nothing to run Jellyfin. Even if a client needs the music to be transcoded, either for compatibility or bit rate restrictions, audio transcoding doesn't require a lot of compute power. A RPi would be able to serve music no problem. Video is another story. As long as the video is "simple" (H264 video, AAC audio) or you have very capable clients, it should still be fine.
