SOLVED: Intel Arc A310 won't transcode

Hello,

I am running the linuxserver jellyfin docker container on openmediavault 7. I cannot for the life of me get hardware transcoding setup with it. I believe I have everything setup correctly with the right drivers etc but it just isn't working. I am running kernel 6.12 from backports.

Try passing in the render group into the container. Not sure if using PUID and PGID causes the container as a whole to not run as root.

Also, if you have an Intel CPU with an iGPU, you may need to change which device you use. Or even an AMD CPU with an iGPU.

The user I am using now is apart of the render group. How do I go about adding more than one PUID/PGID to the compose file?

The arc a310 is the only intel gpu in my system as my CPU is a ryzen 3700x

FYI I was able to fix my problem. I downloaded the 6.11 proxmox kernel in OMV7 following this video below

I am guessing that the backported 6.12 kernel I was using from debian backports did not include all the drivers needed to run the a310 correctly

I'd bet that you did not have any 6.12 kernel headers installed. The i915 driver is built into the kernel, but the kernel HEADERS are what allow Jellyfin to interface with Quick Sync.

Yep I'm betting thats what it was. They were installed with the proxmox kernel. I read somewhere that these are not included in the backported debian kernels for some reason. Thanks for your help!
