    Hi y'all!

I am trying to transcode DolbyVision-content to SDR. In Jellyfins own webplayer they look right but in Kodi with the Jellyfin addons they look green/pink/purple.

Server and client are on the same machine due to the lack of real HDR/DV-support on the display. Transcoding are done through a RTX3060.

Sidenote: HDR-content transcoded with Jellyfin works with Kodi but not DV.

    Any ideas?

What Dolby Vision Profile is the the file you are playing back? As for Kodi it has a setting under Video Processing (Settings - Player - Videos - Dolby vision compatibility mode) - set to yes, will convert Profile 7 to 8.1 for better compatibility. Also in Video Processing there is a setting to choose what HDR type is allowed - HDR10/DV.
Jellyfin1 - 10.10.3 (Docker) Synology NAS (transcoding off)
    Jellyfin2 - 10.10.3 Minix ZX100-0db MiniPC, Intel N100 (transcoding on)
    Storage - x3 Synology NAS (22TB)
    Reverse Proxy - Caddy v2 running on a Pi3b+

Is Kodi configured to locally tone map? What you've described tells me this is a Dolby Vision profile 5 video.

Yes it is DV profile 5. So the problem is in Kodi? I think so too. Even the Jellyfin-client on my Android shows correct colors.

In Kodi Both jellyfin-kodi and jellycon have options in the config to transcode. Kodi itself can't transcode anything.

Are we talking of Kodi in Windows now? Checked both addons and I can't find any setting for transcoding.

    Never mind! I found it!

The videos are a little dark tough. Nothing I can't fix with brightness setting in Kodi but can adjust something so the transcoded streams are brighter from start? Transcoding settings in Jellyfin server perhaps?

Did you change any of the transcoding settings for tone mapping? By default the output of a tone mapped transcode should be pretty close in brightness to a native SDR video.

No I did not change any parameters regarding transcoding. Since I know so little about transcoding I just followed the guide stating that best setting for new users was to set algorithm to BT.2390.

Are there any places that I could read a little bit more about Jellyfin and transcoding? Their documentation is very basic.

Fiddled around with some settings and couldn't find a way to reliably increase brightness that did make it worse for other content.
