Hello everyone, I'm a new user. I downloaded Jellyfin a couple of weeks ago and have been using my main PC to host the server. I'm currently streaming to the Jellyfin app on my phone, tablet, and TCL TV (all Android-based devices).
Overall, things have been working well, but I've run into a recurring issue with subtitles being out of sync for a few shows. When I watch these shows directly on my PC using the Jellyfin web app, subtitles are perfectly synced. However, when I watch them on my other devices, subtitles only stay synced if I play the episode from the beginning without skipping around.
The problem arises when I fast-forward or rewind — the subtitles go out of sync, sometimes by more than 10 seconds. I tried fast-forwarding and rewinding multiple times (as suggested by some users in this forum), but it didn’t fix the issue. Even when I manually adjust the subtitle offset, the sync breaks again if I fast-forward or rewind afterward.
Originally, I was using mostly .mkv video files with .ass or .smi subtitles. After reading that .srt files work best with Jellyfin, I converted all my subtitles to .srt. Some problematic shows still had issues, so I tried remuxing the .srt subtitles into the .mkv files — but that didn’t help either. What’s confusing is that this only affects a few of my shows, even though I’ve set them all up the same way: .mkv files with remuxed .srt subtitles.
TL;DR:
I've searched the forum and Google and found similar reports but no definitive solution. Has anyone managed to resolve this?
Thanks in advance for any help!

TL;DR:
- Subtitles go out of sync when I fast-forward or rewind on devices other than the host PC.
- This only happens with a few shows, even though all are set up the same way (.mkv with embedded .srt subs).
- Subtitle offset doesn’t help — it resets or drifts again after fast-forwarding or rewinding.
