Strange playback behavior with IPTV recordings

My server is set up in Windows and I use Roku exclusively for playback. I have been experimenting with IPTV/m3u playlists in Jellyfin. The streams work well and recordings are of good quality. However, when I play the IPTV recordings, I am unable to use the Roku forward/backward buttons to skip over content. The video just continues to play and the progress cursor is totally to the right endpoint even though the video is playing from the beginning. If I stop the video and select the options to Force Transcoding, then the progress bar, Roku buttons, and Trickplay thumbnails all work and display as expected. 

Are there settings I should have that perhaps I have set incorrectly? In my Server>Playback>Transcoding settings, I have "None" selected for Hardware Acceleration. Considering that all my other videos play fine without this setting, is it really necessary?
