I'm sure this question has been asked but the search function is broken on the forum so I can't find any threads.
I have a lot of movie files that will not add to my library, about 20% of my library. I've found that sometimes removing punctuation from the file name or renaming the file then changing it back will fix the issue but only some of the time. This is all on good video files that do play back locally.
For example, I have Police Academy 1-4 ripped from the same box set. 1 and 4 added to the library but 2 and 3 won't. There's no discernable difference between the 4 files. They are each in their own folders with artwork and are all named Police Academy x (x being 1, 2, 3 or 4.) They're all on the same drive and were all added at the same time and ripped the same way. I HAVE to know if the dirtbag should move or not!!
Is there a way to force these onto the library? Is there a common issue that may be causing this?
I'm on a Windows PC with an OS drive and a NAS drive containing all of my media.
UPDATE: I happened upon the help article about this. Changing filenames and folder names to single words helped fix a lot of the issues. But it’s still not finding several single-word media files. Suggestions?
