    Hi everyone,
I wanted to share my experience with the 10.11.x update in case others are running into the same problems.

    After updating, I encountered:
    - Crashes while scanning libraries
    - Very slow / stuck scans and heavy performance issues
    - Most importantly:

The “Home Videos” library type is broken:
    - It takes an infinite time to load, or doesn’t load at all
    - Items are not displaying correctly
    - No shuffle / play-all option anymore
    - Subfolders are not shown when nested folders are used
    - Tried the suggested workaround using the Music Videos library type → doesn’t work either

I tried multiple times (fresh setup, clearing data, rescans, etc.), but in the end, the only solution was to completely remove 10.11.x and downgrade back to 10.10.7, which immediately restored full functionality.

Why Home Videos were so useful:
I know Jellyfin is mainly intended for metadata-driven content like movies or TV shows, but the Home Videos library type is extremely useful for organizing personal video collections without any metadata. By combining it with ScreenGrabber for video files and using folder.jpg or fanart.jpg for folders (excluding images), everything looks really nice and works perfectly. It was a simple, clean way to organize personal videos — unfortunately, with the latest 10.11.x release, this is no longer usable.

If you rely on Home Videos or encounter crashes during library scans in 10.11.x, downgrading to 10.10.7 is currently the only reliable solution.

It seems like that’s the case. The home video library type is essential. I’ve a number of family wedding videos and photos which work really well with 10.7.
This added to the fact even when 11.1 installed (11.0 crashed during the initial start up) it crashes every time I do a library scan means it’s just unusable.
I love jellyfin and appreciate all the effort, but it seems for now many people will be stuck on 10.10.7 for the foreseeable future. Please ensure the client apps will always work with this version!

I have similar issues. I am still having these issues:

    -Very slow full library scan
-Nothing updates instantly, and "Scan for updated files" does not work, have to do a full library scan for any change to take effect.
-Home/Videos initial loading of subfolder takes a very long time. Basically useless.
-Books library initial loading takes a very long time. Basically useless. Books take longer to open or won't open at all.
-Music Library on Roku client takes a very long time to open now.

May we smile on peril's past.  Face-with-monocle
I complain about Jellyfin a lot and have no idea what I'm doing.

Today my Jellyfin server was updated to 10.11.0, but i've run into some issues. For example, some shows just show up empty, even though the files are still there, it doesn't happen with all of them. When i open the seasons, the episodes are basically missing.

Any fix for this? Or is it possible to downgrade? I'm on Fedora by the way.

Yes check my previous post on page 2

BUT found that when you go to that season which that episode was added, do a Refresh Metadata and select Search for missing metadata, you will see a mess

Just completed an upgrade from the last 10.10.X to 10.11.2 and now my Android phone client just sits with a black screen and the JF logo. It goes no further. My JF server sits behind a Caddy reverse proxy. Any suggestions?

I had the same issue after upgrading.
I cleared the app cache and it worked again.

But due of several issues I am currently back on 10.10.7 until most of the problems are fixed...

Yesterday, 10:13 AM (This post was last modified: Yesterday, 10:24 AM by Scrat134. Edited 1 time in total.)
    The stats...

    Jellyfin v10.11.2 (recently updated from v 10.10.7)
Synology Container Manager / Docker (No Mem Limits / Med CPU priority)
    Synology DSM 7.2.2-72806 Update 4, Intel Celeron J4125 2GHz, 18GB RAM
    20TB HDD NAS Storage (RAID)

    The post-update issue(s)...

All my libraries use the "Home Videos and Photos" library type.

Since updating, upon upload of any media or full library scan (as part scans/refreshes don't seem to do anything right now), I have hundreds of WRN and ERR entries in my JF log stating the likes of the below (partial log extract).

The files in question seem to display alright on the front end, but the log is rammed with these sorts of error lines... So something behind the scenes clearly isn't happy.

    (filenames/paths removed)

I appreciate it, but i currently have more issues, high CPU usage as well. Tried to reinstall the server again(version 10.11.0) and now i can't add my libraries, they basically show up empty, and having high CPU usage as well. I'll just go back to the previous version and wait for a fix.

Looking in logs, I see no log entries for individual library scanning, but All scan does log reports.  I believe this  stated in the 11.1 version and is still present in the latest 11.2

Great work for all those involved. Smiling-face

As with my two servers, one linux, one Windows. Neither has been able to individually scan libraries since 10.11.0, both now at 10.11.2 with same situation. A full scan works fine and seems to be quicker than previously.
