Currently setting up a Jellyfin Server and unsure what gpu to get for 4k streams and hdr tone mapping. I can currently get a used p400 for around 30€, as there are no used A310 I would have to buy one new for 100€ and I wondered if the extra for a A310 would be worth it. Or maybe there are other options that make way more sense then those two options. The server is running on Ubuntu.

You won't regret getting an A310. Our current conclusion is that there's no better option in this price range.

    1. It has twice the VRAM of the P400, allowing you to transcode more 4K video simultaneously.

    2. It supports AV1 decoding and encoding, resulting in better video quality at low bitrates.

    3. Standard driver support for Pascal architecture ended last month. You'll only receive security updates afterward, no more updates for CUDA or NVENC. This isn't good news for long-term use, especially on Linux.
