Based on the information given, they might very well be right, as there isn't much to work with. Some media info of episodes failing and succeeding would be nice for starters. Are they in the same library, or separate ones, etc, etc.

seem to indicate that the client actively stops playing, by itself.
What's different with Season 2? Different container, different codec? If so, try recoding season 1 episode into the season 2 format, etc.
Sidenote: Change the "Slow response" setting in the server, so it will not clutter your logs as much. Disable the entry in the Dashboard -> Logs -> "Log a warning message ..." or set the time to like 5000ms. Or change the setting
