I looked everywhere in the server settings but didn't think to check the client settings for this
In the weeks since I posted this thread, some updates have shipped for the Android TV client and I'm no longer experiencing the issues described above, but thanks anyway for the tip about the logging! I'll keep it in mind for next time!
