It is quite possible this was resolved in 10.9. I recommend you upgrade. Also, make sure to upgrade Jellyfin Media Player to 1.10 if you do.
Also, make a backup of your jellyfin data. If you need to downgrade back to 10.8 for whatever reason you can only do that with a backup. Going to 10.9 is a one way street.
