Possibly solved: simply running 'sudo apt-get install --reinstall jellyfin jellyfin-server jellyfin-web' once JF was already installed (and crashing) on the new OS install has made it run for a solid 10 minutes so far, longer than it ever did since 10.9.2.
Hopefully this helps anyone else on RPi experiencing a similar issue, perhaps there is a problem with the installer.
