WAV - A bug or just not supported?

The .WAV audio file format seems not to be well supported or there is a bug related to supporting it

That's a massive oversimplification. Lots of other formats have metadata. ogg, opus, flac, aac, etc. If you want to stay lossless, use flac. Everything plays it natively these days.
