Sorry for the delayed reply. With all of them (in my , JFM, WebOS official app, iOS official app and Firefox. Since 10.9, you have to press the play next button for the movie start. If not, it just stays there, with black screen. 10.8.13 was the last version it worked for me. And since settings and files (pre roll videos, encoded with compatible codecs) are the same and only the version changed, I guess it has to be something with the plugin itself or some compatibility issue with my setup with the new version, idk really.
While you can say it’s still functional (it doesn’t freeze the client, if you press play next button the movie starts, and quickly), it kind of defeat the purpose of having a “trailer before the film” experience for example. But I don’t find other threads with users talking about issues (and I guess this must be a popular plugin), so I suppose it’s something about my setup. But it’s as default as a setup can be (and I’ve tried with stable and unstable server versions), so I really don’t know the cause. But it shouldn’t be the clients, it happens with at least four.
If I install a linux server from scratch, install its updates, install Jellyfin, leave everything at default, install the plugin from corresponding repo (stable vs unstable), restart the server, configure it to play a h264 8 bits with aac audio file as a pre roll video, the behavior mentioned happens. And with all clients. If others are not having this issue and I am, and with default settings for, well, everything, there must be something with my setup I guess. But I don’t know how to find out. I’ll try to get some logs.
Currently I’m using the last version of Linux Mint. But this didn’t start happening after an upgrade of the OS, it happened when I upgraded JF from 10.8.13 to 10.9 (and every version after that one, no matter if it’s a clean install). If I revert to 10.8.13, the plugin works as intended again, with the movie automatically starting after the pre roll video ends.
It’s the only issue I’m having with 10.9 versions now, everything else works like a charm, so even if it’s something about my setup, it’s plugin specific. And apparently nobody else seems to have it. Weird.
PS: permissions are correctly set. It shouldn’t be the problem anyway, as both the pre roll video and movie play as intended. It’s just that it gets stuck between them.
