The SSA/ASS support in 0.17 is the same as in 0.16. We never recommended using the LibVLC implementation because it contained many bugs (it was therefor marked as experimental). In the end it didn't make much sense to keep that experimental implementation for various reasons, which you can read more about in the pull request (https://github.com/jellyfin/jellyfin-and.../pull/3639).

Well that is technically true, but libvlc worked fine for me. So for me it feels like a downgrade.  I can of cause understand that the cruft of having old/broken code around can make development harder so I scan understand the removal. No complains here.

Is there any improvement for SSA/ASS on the roadmap? I have already donated, but I have no problem putting money where my mouth is and offer a bounty to improve SSA/ASS on Jellyfin.
