I'm no coding guy, but as far as the MacOS, I've just updated the same way you have.
May I suggest Disk Utilities/Disk First Aid followed by Onyx.

2018 3.2 GHz 6-Core Intel Core i7 mini w/64G
MacOS 12.7.6 Monterey
JFS 10.10.7 - JFMP 1.11.1
2x 2G WD 5800prm blue in cMP3,1 via unmanaged TP switch.
