I am new to home networking in general. Never even heard of Jellyfin until a week ago....

I just bought a Synology 923 and installed Jellyfin. The purpose is to have a common access point for my photos and music files on the server (and all the other things people usually do with a NAS). I have not started to digitize my movie collection, but that will probably happen, eventually.

I'm old school. I buy, then rip CDs. When I rip them, I use a ripping tool (DB Poweramp) that rips them in FLAC and MP3 formats simultaneously. It then saves each file in its own folder, one is for FLAC files, the other is MP3 files. These are subfolders in the main "Music" folder. I playback the FLAC music files on my home systems, and I use the MP3s for mobile storage and playback, like USB drives for my automobiles.

To my question, if it's not already apparent...... When I built the Jellyfin library for music, I thought I would just point the application to my "Music" folder, and then filter that library as needed to see either my FLAC files or my MP3 files. Well, I don't see that as an option, and now I have two of everything in the music library.

In retrospect, I should have just directed Jellyfin to the FLAC subfolder, as that's the one I'll use around the house anyway. But now that I have a bit of a mess to clean up, I thought I might as well ask to find out what my options might be, from others that know how to use this software, before I really make a mess of things....

    Thanks in advance.

    ........mike
