I’m switching over from emby to jellyfin as I am trying to go open source but I have a question I use the Emby Kodi Next Gen Plugin and it syncs my emby library to the Kodi library naturally if I use the Jellyfin for Kodi Addon will it act the same as emby for Kodi next Gen and act as a local library when I use the TV and Movie Menu or will I have to map it to a special Jellyfin menu item

There's two ways to use Jellyfin with Kodi: Jellycon, which installs and is accessible through its own menu item, seperate from Kodi libraries, and there's Jellyfin4Kodi which acts as you describe, replacing your Kodi libraries and acting as a local library. J4K has two options, Add-on mode which is the recommended use case, and Native Mode which requires more configuration and is a little jankier, but it allows you to directly access your filesystem, download subtitles through kodi, etc. I use Add-on mode which works very well for my purposes.
