Interesting results, neither are valid. The remux that works has way more errors than the original, but different errors all related to the subtitles.
Original.mkv that does not work has ERR200: "Missing element 'SimpleTag' in Tag at 745 and 769" and Warning WRN0E7: "DisplayUnit seems to be pixels not aspect-ratio for Video track 1 1480px width from 1480, 1080px height from 1080". Created with Lavf57.7.2 / Handbrake
Remux.mkv that does work has a huge amount of ERR0B1: "Block at insertlongnumber track 3 is not a keyframe". Created with Lavf58.45.100
Subtitles work no problem though.
Curious that the issue with the original resolves by downmixing to stereo, but I can't seem to find any info on what those particular errors mean.
