I have a 2017 pro Shield model, I run the Jellyfin app @niels is talking about. Its great. I only have 2 issues, which I suspect will be fixed on jellyfin server 10.11.0 release. Primarily, Dolby Vision content gets played as Dolby Vision, not HDR10, and I have a HDR10 tv, that means all Dolby Vision is just a black screen. For those videos I just play it with the Jellycon and Kodi app, but its fixed on next server release so w.e... 2nd, I really really really wish the Jellyfin App had more customization on Android TV. I want Themes! Not a huge fan of the "smart selection". It just leaves the app being pretty bland. Straight forward and pretty in its own right, but bland... O and, this is a jellyfin thing, not a Android TV jellyfin app issue, but transcoding, or media stream rates are determined by bitrate, rather than saying 'I want the stream to be 1080p'. Though that's minor, I just wish I had more info there as to what the playback was actually doing.
quick edit: I also think Swiftfin is a Android phone app, not a Android TV app. 2 different platforms. You might be able to sideload swiftfin, but its designed for touch interaction, not remote interaction. So it can get pretty jank. I tried installing Xbox Live on my shield and it was just not worth the nuisance, since it is a android phone app.
Bonus you can install seerrtv, a app that connects to your seerr instance, and select shows right from the tv. You can even play the trailers. its a sweet setup, though still early in its development.
