Videos Keep Restarting to Beginning on Galaxy Tab S6 and Windows clients
I’m running Jellyfin Server on a mini-PC (AMD Ryzen 7 5700U @ 1.80 GHz, 16 GB RAM) under Windows 11 Pro, and streaming to a Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 via the Jellyfin Android app. As soon as I start a video, it plays fine for a bit, then jumps straight back to 0:00—over and over.

folder on the server has ballooned to ~760 GB, despite having only ~300 GB of media. I can’t figure out what’s consuming the extra 460 GB.

Environment
- Server OS: Windows 11 Pro
- CPU / GPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5700U with Radeon Graphics
- RAM: 16 GB (12.9 GB usable)
- Storage: 1 TB SSD (760 GB used by Jellyfin?)
- Jellyfin Server Version: please specify
- Android Client: Galaxy Tab S6, Jellyfin Android App vXX.XX
What I’m Seeing
- Launch any video (local library, H.264 or H.265)
- Video plays for 30–60 seconds
- Playback suddenly resets to the beginning
- Happens every single title, whether direct-play or transcoded
Steps I’ve Taken
- Fully uninstalled and reinstalled Jellyfin Server
- Uninstalled and reinstalled Jellyfin Android app
- Verified Wi-Fi signal: 5 GHz network, no packet loss
- Disabled hardware acceleration in server settings
- Cleared Android app cache & data

Logs & Info Requested
I’m happy to upload logs or config files. Here’s what I can grab right now:
- Jellyfin server log:
C:\Users\<User>\AppData\Roaming\Jellyfin\Server\jellyfin.log
- Transcoding temp folder:
<JellyfinData>\transcoding\
- Database size:
<JellyfinData>\data\jellyfin.db
Questions for the Community
- What could cause playback to restart on an Android client?
- How do I safely clear out temporary/transcoding files without breaking my library?
- Is there a hidden cache or database blob that’s bloating my drive?
- Any known bugs in recent Jellyfin versions that match this behavior?
