Freshly set up, using a set IP address for the host computer

I feel so silly, thank you so much. I thought I had checked this because I had to enable ufw on a port to be able to use it for ssh (which I did after this problem happened so I suppose it's not that weird to forget to apply it retroactively). Thank you so much
