Subtitles not working on Roku

SOLVED: Subtitles not working on Roku

Whenever I play an episode (MP4 with external SRT subtitles), the subtitles don’t show up. I’ve tried enabling them directly during playback, and also through the Roku * menu by setting “Captioning always on.” Neither option works.
