I use both, but TMDB first
I came from Plex and had relied on TVDB, and that is where a lot of my metadata is from. I switched to TMDB within the last six months because Jellyfin has obviously moved that direction and because the available images are often higher quality
When I run into a show that has better/more info on TVDB, I change my library's metadata provider to be TVDB, do a scan, check and lock the metadata, then change it back to TMDB. I have it set to keep images and .nfo files in the same directory as my media, and I often go to TPDB to get show/movie/season posters
In other words: consider which provider generally works for you and be willing to occasionally jump to the other one as necessary
