The updated plugin is now available for testing and feedback.  I've also created pull requests for rrhett for the changes in his original github repository.  The install instructions are at https://github.com/VTRunner/EdlToMediaSegments.  After the custom plugin repository has been added to your jellyfin instance it may take several minutes for it to show up in the All/Available list for installation, and a browser refresh may help.

Note that this version does require an update of Jellyfin to 10.11.x.
