That’s essentially correct. Many people don’t use them at all. I didn’t for quite some time. In fact I had to turn them back on to do this nfo text editing trick.
As long as you remove the movie, update the library, you can edit it and pop it right back in.
I’m a MacOS user, so I have an application, TextSoap, that’s perfect for this. I have a list of tags I want to add, genres I want to change, et al, and I just hit it.
