Facing the same issue on Jellycon v0.8.3. When subtitles prompt appears and the language is selected, no errors occur but subtitles don't load and are not found by the player. This issue has been noticed with subtitles embedded into .mkv files.
Subtitles can be enabled in Kodi player when the same .mkv file is played directly in Kodi from library.
