I bought an HP pro 600 pc on ebay for $45, put an SSD and a 12TB hard drive in it, ubuntu and jellyfin, then hooked it up to my TV and stereo receiver using an optical extraction box on the HDMI cable. Installed Samba on it so that I could put content on it from pc's in the house. Have a QNAP server with qty 4 3TB hard drives in it, setup with raid and encryption. It has my data, music, pictures, and personal video on it. These folders and mounted onto the media server using fstab.
I have spent quite a lot of time developing my playlist and have an idea that if I put a 2TB micro SD card in one of my laptops I could install jellyfin to play the music from this laptop outside my house. Looking to develop a python script that would take the playlist file off the ubuntu jellyfin server and modify it so that it will work on the windows 10 laptop running a jellyfin installation. It has to be windows 10 because its my navigation laptop with a gps antenna in it, I am a USCG captain and do deliveries and captains work.
