    When I get home I will test this out. I don't see why this would be an issue.

    Though, I'd recommend Finamp (join the beta to get the new re-design) over the official Android app for music playback.

    Or Symfonium (not free). Another great music app.

    Up until now, I'd only tried video with an external player. Audio seems to play directly in the app. I don't see any indication that it is using an external app for music.

    My understanding is that the Jellyfin app passes a URL with an API key to the external player. Why not give it a try yourself? I don't see why it wouldn't.
