Android TV blurry background image

Hello,

using the Android TV app (latest version from the Play Store) on a 4k TCL - is there any reason why the background image is so blurry? I also tested the app on a Android TV box connected to non 4k monitor and the background is normal. Any help would be much appreciated!

The blur effect on the background is intended behavior on devices with Android 11 and newer (older versions do not currently support the effect)

Although this might be intended, it's not everyone's cup of tea. A toggle to switch the effect to a 'darken' overlay or simply disable the blur would be highly appreciated.

I went troubleshooting for way too long before finding this post since I upgraded my Android TV box.
