I have been looking to upgrade my server from an old 2012 MacBook Pro to a M series Mac mini/Studio. I currently have a M1 Pro MacBook that I use for daily productivity and have thought also about using it as an all in one workstation/server. Ideally I wouldn't want to give up the portability of the laptop, but I also would want to use a single device for everything. I wanted to see if anyone has used apple silicon as a server and would have any recommendations as to specs, actual performance, and if it's worth it or not.

    Cheers

Its possible. I think for best results, M1 users had to use this custom ffmpeg build.

    Jellyfin 10.10.7 (Docker)
    Ubuntu 24.04.2 LTS w/HWE
    Intel i3 12100
    Intel Arc A380
    OS drive - SK Hynix P41 1TB
    Storage
