When you watch SD live TV from Freeview in the UK via a HDHomeRun (which requires transcoding), the auto quality destroys the image quality (see below image).
If you manually adjust the quality the issue is resolved, but this is a frustrating fix and isn't available on the FireStick app.

I've noticed this issue on all players on all of my devices (FireStick app, Desktop app, and Web).
I have tried to fix this by adjusting the server transcoding settings extensively and nothing has made any difference.
Additionally I've noticed that HD live TV stutters too, rendering all Live TV playback pretty much unsuable.

    Transcoding a 100GB 4K file to 1080p works flawlessly.

I have Jellyfin running in a docker under UNRAID, I can't fault the setup as everything but Live TV is working fine.

I would also like to add that I run a plex server exactly the same way and the Live TV works flawlessly.
They don't share resources, I've fired them up separately to rule out any potential overlap issues and it made no difference to the issue.

Could you share your jellyfin and ffmpeg logs associated with the live TV?

    Hey, thanks for the response.
I have attached the relevant logs when the issue occurs.
Please let me know if you need any other info.
    Thank you.

    wtf

I didn't notice this the first time, but the transcode in JMP is set to 139Mbps. That sounds like a bug. That bit rate is probably breaking QSV.

I'd also be curious to see your JMP logs to figure out why direct play failed. Can you replicate and share the JMP logs? C:\Users\your_user\local\Jellyfin Media Player\

Please submit an issue and include your server, ffmpeg, and jellyfin media player logs.

I will log an issue on github, all my players are now showing the following when playing Live TV, no matter what I attempt.
Transcoding and playback of all other media is unaffected, just the Live TV has stopped working completely now.
Still yet to experience any issues with the Live TV on Plex, there's something really weird going on with Jellyfin.

Can you reproduce this latest issue and then share the fresh jellyfin and ffmpeg log?

I gave the docker a restart and Live TV is working again.
Managed to get the client logs and add them to the issue.
    Many thanks for the help.
