I was running an old version of JF server on windows 8.1 and it would make collections, like Lethal weapon 1, 2, 3 and 4 would be under one listing.
Because I was forced to upgrade the JF server, I put together a computer and installed windows 10 on it and installed JF Server 10.9.8, I decided to just start over, easier than trying to upgrade everything, so Windows 10 is a clean install and JF server is a fresh clean install, not upgrade.

For some reason, I checked the box "Automatically add to collection" but it's not working, it's listing each movie separately.
    Anyone have any ideas?

The setting you're looking for is Dashboard->Libraries->Display - Group movies into collections.

I did that and 3 days ago and it still isn't combining them. This option works on my older server, but I can't use that because the apps updated on all my firesticks & fire tv and they won't work in the old server.
I knew this would happen, this is why us old people say, if it aint broke, don't fix it. This sux, just last week everything was fine, then the apps upgraded on their own and nothing worked. I build a new PC and and install the latest server, now things that worked before, don't.

Are there any other settings that may be stopping this from working?

It looks like you don’t have collections set up yet. To get started, follow these steps:
    1. Go to Dashboard -> Plugins -> Catalog and install the TMDb Box Sets plugin. This is different from the standard version that comes preinstalled with Jellyfin.
    2. After installing the plugin and restarting the server, navigate to Dashboard-> Scheduled Tasks and manually run the "Scan library for new box sets" task.

I have a working example using the API / User login :

This example finds Movies by language code and add to a collection of your choice.
