I'm upgrading my Nas with a quadro p620 to a newer system that doesn't support rebar (xeon 2146g)

I wanted something with all bells and whistles in terms of encoding/decoding and seems the only options are either the Intel 310/380 or spending more money on a 4060 or rtx equivalent. Has anyone has experience with the 380 with no rebar support? I'm concerned about performance for it. I could try to use RebarUEFI project to hack rebar support but it's not a guarantee.

Also, my CPU has igpu, will I be able to transcode with the ARC380 dedicated? It's possible to choose which one quick sync will use? I'll be using Jellyfin on windows.

We were just having this discussion in the documentation channel on Matrix. From what somebody else said, the performance hit is around 10% when rebar isn't enabled. You can likely get that back by ensuring your firmware is up to date. One of our mods runs an A310 and confirmed it works without rebar and they've been satisfied with performance.

As for choosing, yes, you choose the device in the WebUI that's used for transcoding.

Thanks! That helps a lot. Compared to Nvidia , seems that the arc 380 is the goat? I was considering a rtx 3050 but seems a bit overkill just for transcoding

Price to performance, I'd recommend an A380 every time.

Thanks a lot! Since rebar doesn't seem to be a big concern for transcode, I'll go with a 380 ! Might still be able to load rebar with the rebaruefi project
