Brand new Roku Ultra - Jellyfin app crashes when I try to play

No matter what audio or video encoding I select, the Jellyfin app crashes

    Hi all,

Until today, I had a many years old Roku hooked up to my home theater setup downstairs. It ran Jellyfin okay - it would run SD content with no problem, but my setup (whether the Roku or the server) would chug with most 1080p content (and possibly with anything beyond 5.1 audio). I figured I'd upgrade my Roku to get more power on that end, and hopefully the ability to direct play more codecs to avoid having to transcode as much - so I bought a brand new Roku Ultra.

Unfortunately, it seems I've taken a huge step back. On the new Roku Ultra, I can browse my titles fine - but it will now no longer play *anything.* Whether it's 360p, 480i, 480p, or 1080p (or for audio, stereo audio, 5.1, 6.1 etc.) the title tries briefly to play, and then the Jellyfin app closes, dropping me right back to the Roku menu.

    Details:
    - I checked and the Roku Ultra is on the most recent version of the Jellyfin Roku app, 2.0.
    - The Roku Ultra has a known good hardwire Ethernet connection that works fine to load the Jellyfin app, and streams fine on apps like Netflix, Prime Video, Hulu.
    - I did check one of the titles that failed on the Roku, on another device streaming through Jellyfin. 2001: A Space Odyssey, MPEG2VIDEO 480p, AC3 5.1. I can play it on my iPhone in the Jellyfin app (my server is transcoding it, but it is playing just fine).

I have the logs and will attach. Meanwhile, here are my playback settings:
    Hardware acceleration: Nvidia NVENC
    Enable hardcare decoding for: (all checked - H264, HEVC, MPEG2, MPEG4, VC1, VP8, VP9, AV1, HEVC 10bit, VP9 10bit)

Does this git issue have anything that helps? Make sure that the new device is fully up to date.

This was the issue exactly - thank you! The latest Roku app needs Roku OS12+, and my Ultra shipped with OS11.X. Despite it being set to check for OS updates on a daily basis, I needed to manually trigger an update to Roku OS12. Now that I have, everything worked great! Thanks so much for pointing me to that.

I still appear to be transcoding even H264 with the reason being "the video codec is not supported" - which seems odd. But I can troubleshoot that, and at least it's playing now. Thanks again.

I don't know what it is about TV boxes. They never seem to ACTUALLY automatically update. Same thing happens with my CCwGTV. I read an article about an update pushed out the week prior. Check my device, "last checked yesterday, no update". Manually check, "ThAt WaSnT tHeRe YeStErDaY".
