    Hey!

    I've noticed when playing music the app always takes a few seconds between songs to load up the next one. Is there a setting I've missed?

    Here's the technical stuff
    ;
    Server: 2600x, 24gb RAM, GTX 960 4g, Windows 10 Pro, MP3 files

    Laptop: Pentium Silver, 4gb RAM, Windows 10 Education, Jellyfin Media Player

    Home network @ 100mbps is connecting the two.

    Might the laptop be underspecced? lol
    I don't have this problem on my phone

    EDIT: i can't add the logs for some reason. Forums say the file type is invalid and Pastebin says it contains offensive language... I'lll keep trying by other means

    It isn't transcoding the music so this is either network performance or client performance. The laptop specs are like bare minimum to run Windows, especially the memory, so I'm thinking that is the issue.

    I've discovered I don't have this problem in the browser, so I'll just switch to that for the meantime.

    Monitoring taskmanager sees Jellyfin hogging 60% of the CPU when loading a new song. It goes to full 100% total usage too so there's the problem. Jellyfin inside Firefox brings the browser's usage from 15% to 50% when loading a new song, and not maxing out the CPU.

    Guess I'll be using that from here on out. Thanks!

    Actually, does Jellyfin give you a different audio quality over the browser vs the app? or will it all be direct play?

    Depends on the source audio codec. But most browsers should direct play common audio codecs.

    Having said that, doing a side by side of JMP and Chromium does show a noticeable difference in how quickly it skips to the next track. Chromium is much faster.

    Source files are all mp3, but it does seem like it at least tries to transcode something. https://pastebin.com/2KJfybjG

    I don't see any transcoding. No calls to ffmpeg or transcodemanager.
