Hopefully this is in the right forum.

I have a Synology DS218j running a MARVELL Armada 385 CPU and I have version 10.7.7-4 of the server software installed from a SynoCommunity package. While the server software runs without issue the new Jellyfin app I have on my nVidia Shield can't access the server as the version is to old. I've looked in the SynoCommunity pages and while they do have a package for the 10.8 version they don't seem to have one for my CPU.

All that leads to the simple question, is there a 10.8 version of the server that will run on my NAS ?

Unfortunately, I do not believe so. The Synocommunity package (if I’m not mistaken) is maintained by a fan of the project and not the project developers. If I had to guess from the patch notes, I would guess them dropping support for 32bit CPUs is what eliminated your CPU from the support list.

If you’re in the market, you could always get a different diskstation with an x86/x64 architecture and either use the Synocommunity package or use Docker.

If you’re not in the market for a new NAS, you could always get a used mini-PC from eBay for ~$100. The added benefit being anything with an Intel 7000 series CPU or newer should be able to HWA transcode HEVC. My recommendation is looking for HP EliteDesks or Dell Optiplexes for a good Size/Price/Performance.

    I hope this helps!

Thanks JPKribs, not great news for me but now I know Smiling-face

Good suggestion about a mini-PC to run the server as well. That'll be up for some research.
