    Morning,

I have been having trouble getting the client to work. The server is fine and I can watch using my TV, Cell, and connecting with the web interface.

But, I have installed the client on my laptop (latest version of XCFE MX Linux) and when I click the link in the menu to start it, nothing happens. I do not see any window at all.

    Suggestions?

    Hi TheDreadPirate,
    Server is 10.9.2.
The client will not open so I can't confirm the version. But I installed it within the last couple of weeks.

How did you install Jellyfin Media Player? From your distro's store (probably flatpak) or from a deb package? MX Linux is based on Debian Bookworm, correct?

MX is based on Debian Bookworm. Let's see if I remember: I think I tried the .Deb file, but it didn't work. Then I found the Flatpak version. So I uninstalled the first version, then installed the flatpak.
    Thanks for the assistance!

I'm assuming you got the bookworm specific debian package from our repo, correct? Though, I don't see why the flatpak wouldn't work. It is also maintained by our JMP dev. And MX Linux isn't the only distro with XFCE as the DE. Not sure what is going on, honestly.

OK then. I guess I will attempt to uninstall it and reinstall. Maybe I grabbed the wrong distro. I will also look at the software repository to see if it is there. Thanks for the help.

Got it! I tried sudo apt remove jellyfin but got not found. I tried sudo apt remove jellyfinmediaplayer but it was not found. I checked the flatpack and it was installed there, so I uninstalled it. Added the repository and sudo apt install jellyfin, but that got me the server. Not what I want (BTW The website is unclear about the install of JMP vs server). Uninstalled that. Checked the flatpack again and installed the media player. Now it works.
