    Hi all,

I recently bought a HP Prodesk 400 G4 SFF just for running Jellyfin. I currently have an Intel Core i5-7600 CPU and 32GB RAM in the system and want to add a GPU. Unfortunately, the G4 PCIe slots have a max TDP of 35W according to the specification sheet linked to this post:
    ---
    PCI Express x16 (v3.0)(wired as a x4) 2.5" low profile, 6.6" length, 35 W max power
    PCI Express x16 (v3.0) 2.5" low profile, 6.6" length, 35 W max power
    ---
(also, the PSU has a wattage of 180W)

I was looking at the GT 1030 but the Jellyfin documentation doesn't recommend it here:

I was wondering if someone could recommend a low profile GPU.

    Thanks!

The GT1030 doesn't have any encoders, so it would be a paper weight for transcoding.

The Intel Arc A310 has a TDP of 30W and would be great for encoding. There are low profile models of the A310 that should fit in that HP's chassis.

Thanks! Although it looks like the A310 is a bit out of my budget, I should have specified in the original post, definitely looking for something under €100, and I couldn't find any second hand for under, sorry!!

I also had in mind the 1050Ti, I can get one for €80. I know it has a TDP of 75W, but what would happen if I use it? Would the 1050Ti just cap at the 35W? If so how would that effect performance for Jellyfin? Am I able to plug it into the PSU to give it more power?

I'm terribly sorry for all the questions, but I've tried to do the research and the information is just too much lol.

    Thanks again!!

The PCIe slot provides 35W, but the external power connector on the PSU should provide any additional power the GPU needs. If your PSU doesn't have an available PCIe power connector, putting a 75W card in a slot that only provides 35W will not work.

But the GTX1050Ti is a perfectly capable card later for transcoding, even 8 years later.
